VARK

I have just done the VARK questionnaire, this is the second time I have done it and have been identified again as having a strong preference for Reading and Writing.

This was my way of completing my modules in my first year of doing the HNC.

My least favourite way of learning which was shown by my VARK scores, is group discussions. I like to listen when in a group and only speak when 100% confident that what I have to say will make a difference. I also take notes when in discussions.

Reflection of my learning line

Reflection of my learning line

Looking at my learning line I realise that I have done more than I thought, a positive reflection for me. It was interesting to see how I have continued to learn and train without realising it.

Working at a University made me think that only formal education was considered as learning but on reflection can see that you continue to learn if different ways.

I believe that everyone has a time when they want or need to learn. My priorities when I was younger, was to get a job and save for a home.

Later I had a period of serious ill health and only wanted to concentrate on recovery and making sure I survived for my family.

Now our daughter is now grown up and my husband has changed employment, I thought I would like to gain a formal qualification. I had the offer to move into the position of Systems and Information Assistant which the HNC in Business Information Technology fits perfectly.

I am thoroughly enjoying my learning experience and would love to carry on and get a degree. Who would have thought I would ever have the chance or the inclination!
